:: a shop break, growing kids, and new things on the horizon ::

Yikes! It has been over a month since I was on here.... I think time gets away much too easily anymore!

I have taken quite a break from sewing and updating...  and with good reason.
Ruby is going to start school next fall .. sweet Harvey will follow the next year... and there has been talk of Gus being our last little one. So this all comes down to wanting to be with them and soak up all the baby, toddler, kid-ness that I can.
This is why the shop is being sidelined for a brief moment.
I am actually seeing this break as a good thing. It's giving me time to refocus and time to gather new ideas... so it's rather exciting! For the next two months I am going to continue this little break from the machine and relaunch the shop in September. It will be a shop full of newness, a shop with a good direction, and a shop I will be proud of.

: a tuesday update :

It has been almost two weeks since we brought Gus home and all is slowly returning to normal. I was sidelined the first week with a spinal headache (boo) and as of this past weekend I have been back to my old self (yay).
I plan on getting back into the making mood soon .. but for now I'm soaking up time with this little family and enjoying all this lovely spring weather.

:: Hello Gus ::

Hello there fine folks!
It's been a bit since I've updated .. and with good reason. Our little fella decided to show up three weeks early, so I found myself in the hospital on April 10th surrounded by lots of love, family, and this sweet face.

It's been a week now and we are all adjusting quite well. Ruby and Harvey have been in complete awe of him since he came home. It definitely makes me smile to see this little family continue to grow.

: patches galore :

As of late I haven't been sewing quite as much.

Our new fella is pretty much at go time any day now .. so I've been making sure to spend most of my time with the kids and with getting this house ready for a new little life. I've been prepping the shop for a bit of a break so I can take care of this brood.

I've spent the last little bit updating pictures and adding a few new items here and there. I'm not going to put the shop on vacation mode or anything .. I'm just planning on devoting a lot less time to keeping it up for a bit. So making sure it is in a good place to do that is a great way to give me a little peace of mind. 

Those new items here and there have mostly been patches, with the exception of one new bag. I have got to say, I'm really enjoying making these patches. They are oh so fun to whip up.

:easter:

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday weekend. We spent it surrounded by family and friends .. and lots of sugar. That sugar is now resulting in a recovery day ... slightly cranky and craving chocolate at 8am .. Ruby and Harvey are a complete delight today. (ha)

:: for the weekend ::

Another week has come and gone ... and Friday has decided to show up all bright and sunshine-y.
This past week saw new items come into the shop, a severe house cleaning - ahem nesting, making goodies for the kiddos, and party planning. This weekend will see a party for Gus and St. Patrick's Day fun at home. I have a little lady in my house who has been demanding green cookies for awhile, so I'll be sure to let you know how that goes!

:: the weekend ::

It was such a lovely weekend. After lots of cold and dreary weather we were lucky enough to get two days that were in the high 60's. The kids wore themselves out from nonstop playing outside. To give you an idea about how wore out these kiddos were ... Ruby at one point stood up from the dinner table and fell flat on her face she was so tired. In other outdoor activities, Dave tilled up the garden so that we can being planting soon and we gave the grill a much needed bit of attention.
So here it is a new week. A week that is going to be used for adjusting to the time change, sewing new shop goodies, and working on decorations for Gus's party this weekend.

:: new new new ::

Well as it turns out I did manage to crank out a new bag yesterday. Not only did I sew up a new bag, but I also finally ventured into making some new goodies for the shop.. patches! I've actually been wanting to add these for awhile, but hadn't ever gotten around to it. I go into repair duty a lot around my house, so having a fun little patch handy is quite helpful.
I've made up a good bunch.. so we will see how they do! Oh and as always, each one is one of a kind!

: wednesday :

Well it ended up snowing here .. and is still doing so right now. The kids and I are taking it easy and enjoying this little day of being snowed in. I did manage to tidy up my work space this morning in the hopes of getting a minute or two to work on a new project. So here's to hoping that your Wednesday is lovely! 

: hello week :

I hope everyone out there is having a lovely start to their week.... I must say here it has been a little dreary and slow going on this end. The kids and I have been making good use of being rained in with lots of games, books, and movies. It is apparently going to snow tomorrow, however a pretty weekend is waiting in the wings ... or so they say. I think if the little ones cooperate tomorrow will make for a rather perfect sewing day ... so we shall see. In the meantime here are shots of the kids and a few little items in the shop.
