oh the joys of new parenting! at the moment our production of items has slowed down a little bit, because we are trying to balance a newborn and making things....which is slightly hectic.

i think i may possibly be tired of the fabric i have at the moment...so come monday i am going scouting for some new fabrics...i tend to lean towards anything that is one of a kind, or at least so out of date that there isnt much chance in anyone having that same material... case in point, most of the bags ive made thus far.

but i think monday is going to be a good motivator to get cranking on some new things. besides we have decided to set up at the Blue Plum festival this summer...so that means a lot of inventory needs to be ready. It has us both really excited though, because it will be the first time these things have made their way to a festival....and hopefully it wont be the last. ive also got my future sister-in-law, heather, using us as an internship..which is going to be really great. it will be nice having some input...and she has some great ideas for promoting our little endeavor.

basically there is a lot going on..and i am really looking forward to where it is all going to lead...so i will be sure and keep posting it on here... (i promise these will eventually sound not so all over the place)

ive been entertaining the idea of knitting some jewelry...particularly of the necklace persuasion. right now im just stuck in a wonderful scarf rut...mostly because i havent tried to knit anything else. my first scarf was a little bit on the uneven side, however now they are looking leaps and bounds better.... (and for sale if there is one you fancy http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6729397&section_id=5901227)...

not that there is anything wrong with knitting scarves all the live long day...but im starting to feel like ive hit a brick wall as far as they go... so i started poking around for some inspiration to try something else and i found this seller who makes felt jewelry...hence my interest in knitting jewelry of my own..im not sure how its going to all turn out, but it sure is worth a try.

there is this knit bikini in my 'stitch and bitch' book..i imagine that to be the pinnacle of knit goods....so ive told myself not to really stress about making something new until i start to tackle that two piece wonder of yarn...

i will be sure and let you know how it all turns out...

(thanks for the blog advice ashleigh...)

and it all began...

so here we go...i am fairly new to all this business, so just bare with me as i hopefully get better at all of this...

well as long as i can remember i've always enjoyed making things, for myself and for others. i have this horrible little purse i made when i was 8, i still have the thing...its constructed out of the back pocket of some acid wash jeans i must have worn at the time. my mamaw was the recipient of this fanciful bag, apparently she enjoyed it...

and thanks to seventh grade home-ec i got on a giant kick of making rafia baskets out of tissue boxes...a little on the tacky side for sure. but enough of that... when i met my partner in crime, that would be dirty, he encouraged me to get a sewing machine. so thanks to his suggestion and his confidence in my ability to do things im here now sewing like a crazy lady. being one for suggestions, he also got me to tackle knitting, because i tend to mention doing things and sometimes fail to do the majority of them. im almost certain ive been meaning to knit for about 7 years now, and just recently accomplished that one...and im addicted to it now. i guess it has taken me 26 years to finally reach some level of motivation, and it makes me feel like a grown up finally.. that and being married and recently having a child.

i like to think the things i construct now have greatly improved since my dabble with acid wash denim... and i hope that whomever reads this checks out our little production machine at www.sweetanddirtys.etsy.com ... i promise it wont be a waste of your time....

alright enough for this first go at being a blogging powerhouse...
